I’ve been waiting for this movie for a long time and I have to say I’m a little bit disappointed. I’m not surprised though. It’s just a pretty mediocre TV movie and Aaliyah deserves much more than this. Her family wasn’t on board with this project and that was a huge turn off for me, I wanted to respect their will but at the same time I wanted to know a little bit more about her.
I’ve said this before, I love Aaliyah and she’s one of my favorite singers ever, but she wasn’t as huge in Spain as she was in the US and the rest of the world, so I didn’t really knew her until she died. I don’t know to what extent this movie is true but that’s the main reason I watched, to get to know her a little bit more. Continue reading →
There’s been a lot of controversy around Aaliyah‘s name lately. Lifetime is planing to do a TV movie about the late singer, but production has been put on hold because her family wanted the movie to be in theaters and not on TV, so they wouldn’t give them the rights of Aaliyah’s music. Also fans were upset about their choice, Disney Channel star Zendaya to portray her.
I have to agree that I don’t really like Zendaya, in fact, I don’t really like any of the Disney starts from today. I guess it’s because I didn’t grow up with them, but I find them all annoying.
I hope Lifetime and Aaliyah’s family get to an agreement, because I was really hoping to see this movie. Unfortunately Aaliyah was not so popular here in Spain and I didn’t know of her until she was already dead. I remember first heard of her when I watched her movie Queen Of The Damned.
Yesterday I was telling you how much I love the music from the 90’s and I did my Top10 Jams from the first half of the decade. Today it’s time for the five last year of this great era. Britney, Spice Girls, there were so many good acts that it’s gonna be difficult to choose only ten songs!!
