Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Review

Sin City - A Dame To Kill For

I finally got to watch Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. First of all I want to say that I’ve been 8 years waiting for this movie and I am so mad that it wasn’t released to Spanish cinemas. They are saying it’s because it flopped in the USA box office, but I think there’s more than that. It can’t be a coincidence that the last three movies Robert Rodriguez has done, Spy Kids 4, Machete Kills and now this one, didn’t make it to the cinemas here. If that was the case, many movies wouldn’t have come to Spain, not only this one. I think there’s something happening, but nobody seems to care as much as I do.

Anyways, going back to the film, I have to say that I really enjoyed it! I waited until I found a medium quality link to watch it online, because I refuse to wait until the DVD or Blu Ray comes next year, I think I’ve waited enough time!!

I liked all the stories and how well they’re connected. Not only within this movie, but to the first one as well. The stories are very well built and though they’re not as good as the ones told in the first movie, I really liked them! Especially the one involving Eva Green‘s character Ava. She did an amazing job!

I love all the returning characters and actors like Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Jaime King, Bruce Willis and on and on, but also missed many of the ones we’ve lost (RIP Brittany Murphy and Michael Clarke Duncan). I also missed Devon Aoki, but I think Jamie Chung did a great job as deadly little Miho!

The think I don’t understand is why Robert Rodriguez keeps including Lagy Gaga in his movies, she’s a bad actress!! Even with very small parts like in this movie, I think she was very bad. I understood why he included her in Machete Kill, she was on top of her career when he started shooting that one, but now, it just wasn’t necessary.

The aesthetic of the movie followed the first one, that I still find better than this one, but that doesn’t mean this one is bad. I really liked it and highly recommend it to the fans of Sin City and Robert Rodriguez. It’s very entertaining and the stories are great.

My Rating: 90/100
